For those of you who’ve already fallen head over heels for the Apple iPad, here’s some good news for you.

Apple has officially announced its release date, and pre-ordering begins this month, on March 12th to be exact. The WiF-only model will be available for retail on April 3rd while the 3G-enabled iPad will follow suite in the latter part of April. The iPad may not come with a built-in camera nor does it feature phone functionality, but it certainly offers up more touchscreen real-estate for iPhone/iPod Touch fan boys.

There was a previous survey that surprisingly revealed that the iPad beats the iPhone in wantability, and now, we’ll finally soon find out whether that study is legit or not.
